  • Our Vision, Values and Ethos

'We are all learning with our head, heart and hands so that we can experience "life in all its fullness" (John 10:10)'

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

Our aim is that everyday our children are learning with their heads (academic) their hearts (social and emotional) and their hands (making and doing).

    Our Vision

The children, staff, governors and parents of Matching Green CE Primary School worked together on our School Vision.

    School Vision

Matching Green CE Primary School seeks to serve the children in our community, recognising that we are all unique individuals.  We want all children and staff to flourish and we aspire to provide experiences that enable children to ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10) and have a lifelong love of learning; by providing a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that engages with our head, heart and hands.

At Matching Green CE Primary School we are learning with our head, heart and hands so that we can experience life in all its fullness.

    Our School Values

The children, staff, governors and parents of Matching Green School all worked together to decide upon our 5 School Values. We looked at the Christian Values and thought about which were the most important for us and for our day-to-day life within our school community.  We decided upon thankfulness, friendship, kindness, endurance and forgiveness.  These values are at the heart of everything that we do.

The 5 school values at Matching Green CE Primary School are:

    • We are good friends and put others before ourselves.
    • We always work hard and welcome challenges.
    • We are thankful for each other and our school.
    • We forgive others and learn from our mistakes.
    • We are kind and treat people how we expect to be treated.

    Our Ethos

At Matching Green CE Primary School, we have a deeply Christian foundation that can be seen through our teaching and learning, through our worship and through our school ethos.  We educate the whole child by teaching them to learn with their heads, hearts and hands every day and to respect and value the diversity of life their communities around them offer in the 21st Century.  We do this with the John 10:10 quote at the forefront of our minds ‘life in all its fullness’ by teaching an enriched curriculum that goes beyond the classroom and incorporates aspects of a social, spiritual, cultural, physical, intellectual, emotional and moral education.

Our teaching and learning is underpinned by our five school values: friendship, kindness, endurance, forgiveness and thankfulness.  Our values are also reflected in the four elements of the Church of England’s vision for education, which are wisdom (endurance, friendship and forgiveness), community (friendship and thankfulness), hope (kindness and thankfulness) and dignity (kindness and friendship). We work closely with the children, parents/carers, governors and the wider community to ensure that Matching Green is a caring and happy environment, where every child matters, and where all children are nurtured and guided to be the best they can be and to develop a thirst for learning.

We have a monthly focus on a specific Christian value that is introduced and concentrated on during Collective Worship but also threads its way through our enriched curriculum.  This enables the children to understand fully the meaning and the value of each theme in their daily lives and in a context that is relevant to their age group.  The children can also recognise how they can learn from the bible, not just in a biblical sense but also to seek guidance for all aspects of life, so that we are able to live ‘life in all its fullness’.  Whilst teaching children about these values we also link it to the Fruits of the Spirit and how those values of joy, peace, love, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control can be expressed, shared and appreciated in our everyday lives.

Our school is an inclusive school and offers to meet the needs of all pupils and their families, including those with special educational needs.  We have a shared expectation that all pupils, regardless of their special education needs, should be offered inclusive teaching which will enable them to make the best possible progress in school, enabling them to reach their full potential and ensuring they understand that they are a valued member of the school community. The range of support the school can offer will be tailored to individual need following on from assessments by internal and/or external agencies.

At Matching Green all stakeholders strive to always be learning, achieving and growing.
